If the player manages to get the stat bar to level up from a grub that a Mii hates, it will not go down as much. A player can use this to their advantage to get extra stats from grub a Mii hates. If the stat boost would normally go down due to disliking the grub, it will stay at zero. On the other hand, rare foods like Cake seem to be favored more.Ī grub stat cannot decrease. Some types of grub seem to be more commonly disliked than others, such as BBQ Scorpion.

This is also true with being 50% full and eating an 80% grub. If a Mii is 75% or 80% full, they can still eat a grub that fills them to 50%.The maximum amount of grub the player can store is 99 per grub.
Mii characters have a set number of Hates, Dislikes, Normal, Likes, and Loves, meaning the player can not get every grub Liked/Loved or Hated/Disliked. How much a Mii likes or dislikes a particular grub is based on the time of creation and facial features, making it basically random, but if the player has a particular Mii already made and said Mii has the Liked and Disliked grub already known, using the same Mii will result in he/she having the same Liked and Disliked grub in a new game or on other people's games. Attempting to feed a 75% or 80% full Mii with a grub that would fill up 80% of their tummy will also give the same result (refusal to eat). For example a Mii may like common Devil's Food Cake, dislike Devil's Food Cake ★ and feel neutral towards Devil's Food Cake ★★. If a Mii likes, or dislikes a type of grub from a certain line they may not necessarily like or dislike other grub from the same line. However, the player can leave and return immediately, or choose random, to make the Mii eat the exact same grub again. A Mii will not eat the same grub they Hate or Dislike more than once in a row during each time the player enters the Eat Grub menu. Grub that is Disliked or Hated gives a lower boost to a stat, whereas grub that is Liked or Loved gives a greater boost than Normal. A Mii's reaction can be either Hates, Dislikes, Normal, Likes or Loves for each type of grub. Boss monsters tend to drop the ★★ version regardless, but some can still drop the more common ones if they are programmed to have a chance to drop. The rarity system primarily determines the chances of obtaining rarer versions after killing a monster that drops it, or swiping it from one. Some grub only have one version, but provide similar stat bonuses as a ★★ grub would anyway. Rarer versions boost the same stats but with a higher base boost (★ being roughly twice as strong as the base item, ★★ roughly 3 times). Most grub come in three varieties, with the rarer types being distinguished by the ★ icons after the name. The effect is made greater or worse depending on how the Mii likes the grub given to them. These foods can give various stat bonuses for the Mii characters.
In the Nintendo Switch version, they can also be found during outing events as the "souvenir" bonus afterwards. Certain quests at the Travelers' Hub can also reward grub, while guest party members can trigger random events rewarding grub as well. Grub is collected from defeating monsters, winning the Roulette's blue segment prize (if it does not offer Experience), obtaining them from random chests, or encountering the Roaming Gourmet (who will always award three pieces of a special grub specific to the region). The player can give their adventurers grub while resting at the Inn in the Eat Grub menu. Various different kinds of grub can be found in the world of Miitopia.
